A commitment to modern technology and individualized learning is reflected in the Upper School, complete with “makerspaces” and science labs, a rooftop athletic field, a 550-seat state-of-the-art performing arts auditorium and multimedia theater, and a two-level library that rivals collegiate counterparts.

The Upper School’s inventive design, by bKL Architecture, also reflects GEMS’ dedication to creating an ideal learning and teaching environment, with planning and design input from the best minds in education, including the Field Museum, Steppenwolf Theatre, Art Institute of Chicago, the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Northwestern Kellogg School of Management, Harvard Graduate School of Education, Gwinnett School of Mathematics, and more.
